An old, much beloved Downtown Los Angeles hotel near LA Live reopens after a major restoration. Once an exclusive women’s hostel, and then later distinguished by its Moroccan décor, the hotel has been given a fresh new contemporary look that nods back to its original 1926 Spanish Colonial style. GreenOak Real Estate and Urban Lifestyle Hotel Group acquired the hotel in 2014 and underwent a complete $55 million transformation that is now a part of downtown LA’s new renaissance. The 14-story luxury hotel features 268 rooms & suites, 12,000 square feet of event space, an iconic coffin shaped pool, the causal dining restaurant Veranda, the Basque-inspired restaurant Breva, the central bar Figueroa, and a bespoke reservation-only Bar Alta. Nightly rates start around $370.
